The 13th Canberra International Riesling Challenge is set down for 8-13 October 2012 at the Hyatt Hotel and Albert hall, Canberra. The event, the biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, attracts entries from 10 countries and judges from Germany, Singapore, USA, New Zealand and Australia. Wines are judged by region, country, and the world, using the international 100-point judging system, in groups of a maximum of 12 wines to prevent palate fatigue.
The event then continues with a seminar “Achieving Riesling Excellence” hosted by Charlie Sturt University Wagga Wagga and the international judges, followed by a master class of the world’s best Rieslings. The Hyatt Hotel Canberra on Friday 12 October hosts the awards presentation and celebration of Riesling and, on Saturday 13 October, the event concludes with a public tasting of all entries, held at the historic Albert Hall.
