Orange Wine Week celebrates eighth annual event

October this year sees the eighth annual Orange Wine Week.

The event continues to grow with over 40 wineries and vineyards offering activities from tastings with locally produced hampers to art exhibitions, markets, black tie dinners and live music.

Orange is staking its claim as one of Australia’s leading cold climate wine regions.

If wine is about the people, region and stories then Orange has this in spades.

“There is a real story evolving in Orange,” said Orange Wine Week chairperson and Gordon Hills Estate owner Margie Gordon.

“One chapter is all about elevation. Orange chardonnay from single vineyards at 600 metres, 800 metres and over 1000 metres are distinctly different with each step in elevation producing markedly different wines.”

This year’s Wine Week premier events include:

Orange Wine Show Presentation Dinner

This is the pinnacle event of Wine Week, with the announcement and presentation of the trophy winners for 2013.

Orange Wine Show Tasting

This is a special opportunity for wine lovers to taste the wines from the region in one place.  The historic Orange Show Pavilion will house the wines, which will be poured by the makers and growers.

‘Wine & Dine on the Ninth’

No longer a ‘good walk spoiled’, this is an experience for the golfer and non-golfer alike; the perfect way to experience one of the state’s most idyllic settings with beautiful food and wine.

Orange Wine Week Night Market

The annual Orange Wine Week Night Market is one of the busiest and most colourful events of the year. Over 40 stalls comprising the region’s best winemakers, cooks, chefs and producers will be vying for the attention and appetite of those attending.
