Last week to enter wine in 2011 NSW Wine Awards

NSW wine producers have until Friday, close of business day, to enter their wines in the running to be crowned Wine of the Year, 2011.

Next month, some of Australia’s most experienced palates will come together to judge wines from all over NSW for the 2011 NSW Wine Awards, a unique wine show which allows both small and large wineries to compete on the same style of wine.

Chair of judges Huon Hooke will be joined by a host of renowned wine professionals, including Philip Shaw, PJ Charteris, Mike De Garis, Cory Ryan and Nick Bulleid to determine the Top 40 NSW Wines, the trophy winners and the coveted NSW Wine of the Year.

A position in the Top 40 NSW Wines will give recipients exposure through a PR campaign, promotion by large corporate sponsors and opportunities to participate in the events program in October.

Wines entered into the NSW Wine Awards are also eligible to receive Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

The Awards Program will kick off on October 17 with the 2011 NSW Wine Awards Gala Presentation Dinner at the Sydney Opera House.

On the 18th, Huon Hooke will host the NSW Wine “Trophy Winners Hats Off” dinner at Tetsuya’s Restaurant in Sydney, and on the 20th, judging of the NSW Wine “Best of the Best Top 40” Tasting will be held at Circular Quay.

A trade and consumer tasting will take place in the same afternoon.
