In recognition of 125 years of keeping South Australian phylloxera free in 2024, Vinehealth Australia has announced its inaugural Biosecurity Champion Award.
This annual competition is open to South Australian growers, vineyard owners, contractors, consultants, suppliers and researchers. It aims to raise awareness of the role of biosecurity in sustaining South Australian vineyards.
The title of Vinehealth Australia Biosecurity Champion will be awarded to the person who demonstrates outstanding achievements in biosecurity practices. The competition will assess biosecurity and farm-gate hygiene knowledge and activities across multiple categories, including pest and disease management and prevention.

- Entry is open to South Australian growers, vineyard owners, contractors, consultants, suppliers and researchers.

- Entries are due by Friday 15 November.
- Entries will be assessed by a judging panel including Vinehealth Australia CEO Sam Scarratt, AWRI Team Leader, Engagement and Sustainability Suzanne McLoughlin and Wine Australia Program Manager, Biosecurity, Pest and Disease Robyn Dixon.
- The winner will be announced by 13 December 2024.
