McGuigan awarded haul of Gold Medals

The international wine awards season has kicked off with a bang for McGuigan Wines, which has won a set of high-profile global accolades.

 

The Australian brand has been recognised with six gold medals – plus a coveted Best in Show -from two of the world’s most prestigious wine competitions, the Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge, both based in London.

 

The brand claimed four golds at Decanter’s World Wine Awards 2018 and the Best in Show award for the McGuigan 2005 Vineyard Select Sémillon from the Hunter Valley.

 

As well as Decanter’s prized Best in Show award, the brand took gold medals for McGuigan 2013 Hunter Valley Bin 9000 Sémillon along with the 2009 and 2010 Shortlist Riesling, both from the Eden Valley.

 

The Shortlist Riesling was also a star performer at the International Wine Challenge, where the 2008 and 2010 vintages both landed gold medals. McGuigan also picked up an impressive 15 Silver and 11 Bronze awards.

 

The accolades build on McGuigan’s unrivalled performance at global wine shows, with Chief Winemaker Neil McGuigan having been crowned International Winemaker of the Year by the International Wine & Spirits Competition for a record four years.
