Trentham Estate celebrates 30 years

Murray Darling winery Trentham Estate is celebrating its 30th year in business as a family-owned and operated winery, restaurant and cellar door.

The business partnership between brothers Anthony and Patrick Murphy and Anthony’s wife Nola continues to flourish as the three co-founders carry on guiding the company, remaining very active in day-to-day operations.

Trentham’s winemaking facility has expanded from its first crush in the 1980s to a boutique, state-of-the-art feature handling some 5,000 tonnes of premium varietal fruit each vintage.

The company distributes domestically and globally with Trentham holding a strong position in both markets.

Trentham said it is very proud of, and humbled by, the many awards and accolades it has collected over the journey, including hundreds of wine show medals, an impressive array of wine trophies, and various business awards.

The most memorable for the Murphy’s was winning the Trophy for Shiraz at the 2008 International Wine & Spirit Competition for the 2005 Heathcote Shiraz. Brothers Anthony and Pat were also the first grapegrower-winemaker team from an irrigated Murray region to be nominated for Winemaker of the Year in 2006.

Today the Estate continues to produce highly commended wines, and the Cellar Door and Restaurant have developed into an impressive riverside destination where the tradition of quality food, wine and customer service continues as always.

“Being able to create something that people genuinely enjoy and that contributes to great experiences and memories is incredibly satisfying,” said Patrick Murphy, director and vineyard manager.

Support of the local community has played a huge part in the success of the business and Trentham Estate wishes to thank their loyal customers and suppliers for their years of support.

Trentham also celebrates their long-term staff that have been with the company for many years, contributing to the business’ achievements.

On September 22 a long lunch was held on the winery grounds to celebrate this exciting milestone with family, friends, staff and long-standing customers and suppliers.

From humble beginnings, the Murphy’s have created a much-loved venue for locals and a not-to-be- missed destination for visitors to the Mildura region.

“The Trentham experience has been exciting, fun, hard work, satisfying and well worth the journey,”

said Anthony Murphy, managing director and chief winemaker.
