Tread Softly Wines has unveiled a new development program, which it says is all about empowering emerging female winemaking talent.

One “up-and-coming” female winemaker will be selected for the inaugural Next Generation Winemaking Rising Star program, which is a year in duration.

Working closely with Tread Softly’s mentors, the selected participant will gain experience in every facet of winemaking, from production through to marketing, trade, and consumer engagement.

“Our goal with the Next Generation Winemaking Rising Star Program is to champion up-and-coming female winemakers to leave their mark on the industry,” said Indeya Passfield, global marketing manager and program mentor at Tread Softly.

The program provides hands-on mentorship and exposure to the full winemaking process, as well as opportunities for the selected winemaker to showcase their wine at international wine fairs. They will also meet with key customers locally in Australia and in major markets such as the UK.

Tread Softly is inviting budding winemakers to “share their concepts and aspirations”. Submissions will be judged on creativity, authenticity, and sustainability, with the most compelling entry selected for the program.

Applications are now open until 11th July 2025, with the successful participant announced by the 15th August 2025.
