Barossa tops Langton’s Classification with record 30 wines on the list

A record 30 Barossa wines* were listed in the Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine VI released last week, making it the most represented Australian wine region in the classification.

Langton’s Classification of Australian wine is the paramount form guide to Australia’s finest wines. Entry into the Classification is based on a wine’s reputation and track record at auction.

At least seven new Barossa wines made it to the list for the first time, including Glaetzer Amon Ra, Henschke Keyneton Euphonium Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Blend, John Duval Wines Plexus Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre, Kalleske Johann Georg Old Vine Shiraz, Langmeil The Freedom 1843 Shiraz, Grant Burge Meshach Shiraz, and Rockford Black (Sparkling) Shiraz.

Other Barossa highlights include:

Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz moving up to the classification’s highest, Exceptional category for the first time,
Rockford’s Black Shiraz, ranked Outstanding, becoming the first Sparkling ever to join the classification, and
Seppeltsfield Para Liqueur Tawny and Seppeltsfield 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny being ranked in the Excellent and Exceptional rankings respectively.
