Australian & New Zealand Winemakers (ANZW) is proud to partner with the inaugural WINE: BAPTISM OF FIRE – a new competition open to anyone who has not professionally produced a wine. Competitors are given grapes from an iconic vineyard, the experience and knowledge of the competition’s mentors, all the necessary equipment in a pop-up city winery, and then it is up to them.
 
ANZW’s in-house winemaker Josephine Horn, along with Jamey Algie and Steve Lamberto, have helped these budding winemakers understand the principles, processes and safety of their supplied winemaking equipment, including amphorae, eggs, tanks and presses.
 
The first WINE: BAPTISM OF FIRE runs from the 2013 harvest and concludes with finished wines in bottle by October.

The wines are then sold with the public deciding the ultimate winner.
