Accolade Wines has reportedly signed a deal to purchase assets from Pernod Ricard in three countries.
According to The Australian Financial Review, Accolade Wines “agreed to acquire Pernod Ricard’s businesses in Australia, New Zealand and Spain”, in a deal which was signed on Tuesday. The deal will be subject to regulatory approval, and the AFR said it expects an announcement on Wednesday.
The news follows reports that Accolade Wines had walked away from merger talks with Australian Vintage in late May.
Accolade owns brands such as Grant Burge, Hardy’s, Petaluma and St Hallet, whilst Pernod Ricard’s best-known brands include Jacob’s Creek, St Hugo and Church Rd. Australian Vintage’s portfolio includes names such as McGuigan, Nepenthe, and Tempus Two.
According to DataRoom, Accolade has been considering Pernod Ricard as “a possible acquisition option” for “several months”.
