Almost 770 wines from 130 wineries from across Victoria will be put before a panel of expert judges at next week’s 2018 Victorian Wine Show.

“The Victorian Wine Show is the largest gathering of Victorian wines at any show, and we are really proud to showcase the talents of winemakers from 22 distinct wine growing districts,” says Victorian Wine Show Director, Robert Paul.

Over three days, a panel of expert judges will sniff, sip and score each of the wines before awarding medals in each category.

The Victorian Wine Show aims to promote all Victorian grape growers, winemakers and wineries as well as provide an opportunity for producers to benchmark themselves against industry standards.

“We want to recognise good quality wines but the show is an advocate for the industry itself,” said Robert Paul.

“That’s why the 2018 Victorian Wine Show will again feature a Travel Scholarship to assist anyone who has a role or is involved with wine making and has a passion to learn or a great idea, to follow their dreams.”

The Premiers Trophy, an initiative introduced at the 2017 event, also returns this year. This trophy sees the best wines from other regional Victorian wine shows compete for the title of the ‘best of the best’.

A panel of 18 industry experts, led by Chief Judge Andrew Santarossa will begin judging from Wednesday 31 October to Friday 2 November at Mitchelton Winery in Nagambie.

Trophy winners and the winner of the 2018 Victorian Wine Show Travel Scholarship will be announced at the awards presentation lunch on November 15 at the highly regarded Muse restaurant at Mitchelton. Tickets for the presentation lunch are available via the VWS website.
