The Wine Scholar Guild today announces the pre-launch of its Spanish Wine Scholar (SWS) program, exclusively for wine educators.

The new program will be available for select educators and existing program providers starting January 2019.

Potential instructors must first be accepted as a program provider before beginning study. Once accepted, educators will have exclusive preview access to the Spanish Wine Scholar program with the goal of achieving instructor certification by May 2019. The wine educator application period is now open; registration closes November 15th.

The Spanish Wine Scholar pre-launch for wine educators will follow the schedule below:

•             Oct 2018: Application for wine educators opens

•             Jan 2019: Study manuals ship to approved wine educators

•             Jan-Mar 2019: Review webinars for educators

•             April 2019: Educator certification

“Much work has gone into creating an interesting and informative program and we are happy to share it with educators first,” states Rick Fisher, Spanish Wine Scholar™ Education Director. “There is tremendous demand for a program focusing solely on the wines of Spain and we are happy to fill this need.”

“The Spanish Wine Scholar program is designed exactly like the Wine Scholar Guild’s existing programs on France and Italy with manual, online modules, pronunciation exercises, interactive quizzes…and of course, turn-key teaching materials,” adds Julien Camus, Wine Scholar Guild President. “The wine industry has been waiting for two years for this program. It feels terrific to be in roll-out mode.”

Once officially launched to the public, the Spanish Wine Scholar program will be available online as well as in classrooms around the world via the Wine Scholar Guild’s extensive program provider network. The official launch of the Spanish Wine Scholar Program is slated for Fall 2019.

The Spanish Wine Scholar™ study & certification program is a Spanish wine course designed to provide committed students of wine with the most advanced and comprehensive specialization study program on Spanish wine.

  As a certification program, it confers the Spanish Wine Scholar title and SWS post-nominal to wine professionals and enthusiasts who successfully pass the certification exams (Ex: John Smith, SWS).
