Overview
Being able to demonstrate the authenticity and provenance of wine is important in the international wine market both to ensure brand integrity and to protect consumers from fake products.
This presentation will give an overview of options for demonstrating a wine’s provenance and provide a detailed look at recent AWRI research which uses isotopic ratios to link wine to its location of origin, through the influence of soil, water and air.
This work seeks to ensure that a method is available to verify if a wine originated in Australia or not, independent of the way it was made or its history since leaving its source.
