Overview
Held in Hawke’s Bay, Marlborough and Central Otago from 13 – 17 June, the one-day technical events are designed to share the latest industry-driven research with a practical emphasis on helping winemakers and grape growers apply the findings.
Based on this year’s theme, Winegrowing in a Changing Environment, Bragato Research Institute (BRI) has worked with their science partners and local industry experts to deliver a relevant and thought-provoking programme.
The line-up will dig into topics from trunk disease to agroecology, reducing carbon emissions and vineyard waste, alternative pruning methods, and responding to hail and frost events in vineyards. This year will also see the introduction of industry panel discussions, led by local experts to address topics of regional relevance.
BRI Viticulture Extension and Research Manager Len Ibbotson says the programme offers an exciting mix of new knowledge from applied research, and expertise from guest speakers, to address a range of local industry priorities.
“I’m particularly excited about the grower-led sessions, where a group of industry experts will share their insights and experience on a range of topics including downy mildew, looking after our people, reactive versus planned management and improving soil health.”
Now in its 14th year, Grape Days are provided as part of the industry’s research programme funded by the New Zealand Winegrowers’ levy, delivered through Bragato Research Institute.
