2002 vintage report for Kangaroo Island (South Australia)

Veronica Bates, manager of Bay of Shoals Wines on Kangaroo Island, said the winery’s yields were down by 75%. She said cool weather prevailed through budburst, flowering and well into ripening, reducing yields.
‘There was almost no sun,’ she said. ‘It was continually cloudy for three to four months.’
Veronica described the quality as good with the grapes obtaining higher sugar levels over the long ripening eriod.
