Vintage report call-out ’24

We hope you’ve had a productive vintage this year, despite the hardships brought on by challenging climatic conditions and oversupply, and hope that the removal of tariffs on Australian wine to China has brightened the outlook for the year ahead.

As you may know, our publication writes an annual Vintage Report, compiling the information and statistics gleaned from the growers, winemakers and industry bodies representing each region across Australia and New Zealand.

Now, we are asking for your help to accurately report the data for Vintage 2024 and to share with us your knowledge on the general results for your region.
Please spare a moment to draft up a 300-450 word report based on the information listed below. If you have any supporting data, such as graphs, please feel free to include these as an attachment.

Please also include a handful of high-resolution images of your time in vintage this year (as either email attachments, WeTransfer or Dropbox links).
We appreciate you sharing your time in Vintage in 2024!

Please send through the information, links and images to Grapegrower & Winemaker journalist, Meg Riley, at: [email protected]

What we’d like to know:

  1. What are the estimated yield totals for your region?
  2. Is the production count lower or higher than Vintage 2023?
  3. What are the reports on grape quality?
  4. What seasonal weather may have impacted this vintage?
  5. How have growers overcome any extreme seasonal challenges?
  6. Did any growers struggle with vine diseases or pests?
  7. How have growers and winemakers overcome challenges by the oversupply of major red winegrape varieties?
  8. How has the removal of tariffs on Australian wine to China impacted your operations this year?
  9. How has the compacted vintage affected wine production in your region?
  10. What are your expectations for the remainder of the year and for the wine?
