Murray Valley conference looks to the future

Murray Valley winegrowers are being urged to attend the region’s next annual winegrape conference, which aims to provide an honest assessment of the region’s future.

‘Where to from here’ is the theme of the conference, which has been described as the most important business planning event for growers in the last decade.

The conference will take place on Thursday 11 August in Mildura and will bring together senior industry analysts to give growers the information they need to make important decisions about their future in the wine industry.

Speakers will discuss the major factors that will drive winegrape demand and prices over the next few years, the prospects for a recovery in the winegrape market and grower incomes in 2012 and beyond.

Findings of the 2011 Murray Valley Regional Wine Grape Crush Survey will be released at the conference and speakers will also discuss funding support and exit programme options.

Conference speakers include Rabobank wine industry analyst, Marc Soccio; Wine Australia corporation industry intelligence manager, Peter Bailey; Wine Grape Growers Australia executive director, Lawrie Stanford; and vineyard business consultant, Mary Retallack.

The conference begins at Settlers, 8th Street Mildura from 1pm on Thursday 11 August.
