In a new audio investigation set amongst the vines of wine’s elite, journalist Marc Fennell examines a scandal that rocked the world of fine wines, unveiling a “pattern of abused power and authority”.

Launching exclusively to audio platform Audible, Corked follows Walkley Award-winning journalist Marc Fennell, as he travels the globe to uncover an intricate world of ego, power and deception, and asks what’s next for an industry ripe for cultural transformation.

“This story hurled me from Napa’s rolling vineyards to the backstreets of New Orleans and all the way home to Australia,” said Fennell.

“Along the way, I tried (and failed) to become a sommelier on the side of a highway, uncovered a scandal that shattered lives, and sat down with one of the greatest chefs on Earth, Ben Shewry from Melbourne’s Attica.

“It’s a globe-spanning tale of obsession, status, and very expensive bottles of betrayal. Wild, tragic, ridiculous, Corked will definitely change how you think about what’s in your glass.”

Karen Appathurai Wiggins, head of regional content, APAC, at Audible, said that Fennell’s latest investigation is another instalment in his unearthing of “culture-changing” scandals.

Nut Jobs took us on a money heist of stolen identities and crime syndicates in California,” said Appathurai Wiggins. “It Burns revealed what the race to breed the world’s hottest chillis could teach us about pain. And with Corked, Marc shatters the idea that what is elite is inherently good. This eye-opening, thrilling series adds to a long list of Audible originals that bring the best stories from Australian creators to the world.”

Years in the making, Corked is Fennell’s fifth Audible original, and follows the success of award-winning Audible series This is Not a Game (2024), House of Skulls (2023), Nut Jobs (2020), and It Burns (2019).
