Overview

For the first time ever, Young Gun of Wine will host a series of virtual events in place of its annual Top 50 tasting events. Across the month of May, we will host seven experiential wine tastings with the Top 50 winemakers of 2020, along with other experts – Vanya Cullen, Prue Henschke and 2018 Young Gun Rob Mack, amongst others – with ‘attendees’ able to ask questions live during the broadcast.

“We’re taking the content of what was one massive Top 50 winemaker event and breaking it into seven sample sized virtual events. Not only will people be able to engage from the comfort of their homes, across the seven events they’re going to be able to explore more with each winemaker than they would by attempting to meet all 50 winemakers at once,” said YGOW founder Rory Kent.
Most of the events will last up to one hour and will include a session on specific regions including Margaret River, the Adelaide Hills and the Yarra Valley, as well as sessions on topics such as pinot noir, alternative varieties and pét-nats.

“What we’re bringing together is more than a broadcast chat – guests are going to be able to taste along and ask questions, and at each event we’ll be connecting with more than half a dozen winemakers around Australia, and more than 50 across the series, plus some other special guests,” said Kent.

Participants will be able to purchase the wines in advance. We have partnered with Australia’s leading fine wine retailer, Langton’s, to curate a selection of mixed six-packs and mixed dozens. Two wines from each of the mixed packs feature in a topic at the events. The packs can be purchased here.

Tickets are free, but you do need to register online, as the broadcasts will be private. Once the booking is confirmed, you’ll receive a link to join the virtual event. These are events for both the wine savvy and novice. Taste, listen and learn, or ask questions to delve into more detail – it’s up to you.
