2010 vintage report for Limestone Coast – Robe

Growing season and harvest: The weather was reasonable for flowering with not too much wind. The growing season was good with an unusually warm spell in November which accelerated fruit development and brought forward harvest dates by two to three weeks. Frost was not an issue this vintage. Two significant rain events – one in February and another in April – created disease pressure for some growers with the latter event making the harvest of the last of the reds more challenging.
Yields and quality: Grape yields were about average for most varieties with Merlot being up a bit and Cabernet Sauvignon a little down. Yields generally were in the range of 5-8 tonnes per hectare. Grape quality was good.
