2002 vintage report for Mudgee (New South Wales)

Bob Roberts, winemaker at Huntington Estate, said local yields were down by about 25% on last year.
He said the quality of the reds would be ‘within the top five best years over the previous 20 years’.
On the other hand, the quality of the whites was ‘average with sound fruit and lower in flavour’ than the reds.
Bob said rain before harvest diluted the flavour in Semillon and to a lesser extent in the Chardonnay.
