1999 vintage report for Pyrenees (Victoria)

Vintage started on 15 February in the Pyrenees region, said Roger Milner of the Vignerons Association. Yields were down about 10%, but the decrease was not consistent across the region. Some vineyards were not affected by frost in October, and some vineyards increased yields with new plantings. Roger said weather during vintage was hot early, then generally fine and mild. There was minimal disease incidence, due to low humidity and dry conditions. He described the 1999 vintage quality for reds as good to excellent and that of whites as excellent.
