1999 vintage report for Bendigo (Victoria)

Lindsay Ross of the Bendigo & District Wine Growers’ Association said the 1999 vintage had many difficulties, including severe frost in late October, heat waves in February and a drought. The season was late in ripening and consequently there was a lot of bird damage and late season bee activity. Despite these problems, fruit was of very high quality with strong colours and full fruit flavours. ‘A good red vintage with Shiraz outstanding,’ said Lindsay.
