1997 vintage report for Burnett Valley (Queensland)

The Burnett Valley is a new region and Merv O’Reilly, spokesman for the Winegrowers Association, said yields were in line with expectations.Vintage started on 20 January and weather during vintage was predominantly dry, with maximum temperatures of 30¦-35¦C and some showers. Disease was negligible except for some botrytis evident on the reds. Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon were picked at about 13-13.5¦Be, with good colour; Chardonnay and Semillon were also picked at about 13¦Be.
