Overview

Since 2020 has thrown the world a curve ball we have all had to change gear, adapt and get creative in order to continue to do what we do.  The AAVWS is no different.  We are 100% committed to the educational aspect of what our show is all about and so we couldn’t imagine a show year with no Talk & Taste.  That’s why we in 2020 we are running [All] Talk & [No] Taste, a series of online happenings around the wine show to bring to our community the kind of insights and exciting content we usually deliver at the Friday afternoon forum in Mildura.

Thanks to our amazing presentation partners the NSW DPI, the 2020 program will consist of 5 individual online events, broadcast live and FREE via Facebook Live on the AAVWS Facebook page, covering the usual diverse range of topics around the growing, making and marketing of alternative variety wines.

Program

SESSION ONE: ‘Sharing a Bottle with COVID’
Wednesday 21st October, 8pm, Facebook Live

Adam Walls, Wine Selectors & 2015 AAVWS Fellow
While we have all been stuck at home during 2020, we have still been enjoying a vino or three despite being unable to pop down to our favourite local wine bar or enoteca. AAVWS Fellow alumnus Adam Walls from Wine Selectors will share some insights into how we changed our wine buying habits to fit the times, discussing the rise and rise of wine clubs and online wine buying and selling in the time of COVID.

SESSION TWO: A Match Made in Mildura
Wednesday 28th October, 8pm, Facebook Live

Stefano de Pieri, Stefano’s Restaurant & Elizabeth Richardson, L’Enologa Wines
Celebrity Cook, Mildura Ambassador & AAVWS co-founder Stefano de Pieri will hang out in his kitchen with Winemaker Elizabeth Richardson to prepare a meal and have a chat about the fun to be had when matching the diverse flavours and textures of alternative variety wines with food.

SESSION THREE: A Deep Dive into Fiano
Wednesday 11th November, 8pm, Facebook Live

Hosted by Chief of Judges Sophie Otton featuring Mark Lloyd, Coriole SA; Gwyn Olsen, Briar Ridge NSW; Jo Marsh, Billy Button Vic; Laura Carter, Unico Zelo SA
