1996 vintage report for Upper Hunter Valley (New South Wales)

Upper Hunter region yields were up 50% on 1995 because of favourable conditions early in the season and a cool summer. Andrew Cruickshank, secretary of the Upper Hunter Winemakers’ Association, said 1996 will be a significant year for whites, which should show good varietal character. Good colour and flavour due to cool ripening conditions should be a feature of the reds.
