SA to host 2-day Point of Difference workshop

A number of workshops will be held this month throughout South Australia to give wine producers the information they need to differentiate themselves in today’s crowded marketplace.

The South Australian Wine Industry Association (SAWIA) will hold workshops in the Barossa, Riverland and McLaren Vale to help producers ‘establish their point of difference’.

SAWIA executive administrator Olivia Bristow said the workshops would provide information to help individual businesses attract more people to their cellar door and promote their wine region.

“It’s for anyone in the wine industry who is really looking to change their stories and reach consumers,” Bristow said.

“It’s about uncovering the gems that are in your business.”

Dr Jane James, of Jay Talk Consulting, who is also a Professor of Tourism at Flinders University, will facilitate the workshops, focussing on how to use interpretation (story-telling) in a wine business.

Attendees will be divided into groups and required to do homework before attending a second two-hour workshop, where they will discuss what they have learnt and how to apply it at a practical level.
