Australian wine writer Nick Ryan has taken home the award for Best Wine Communicator in the Short-Form Writing category at the Global Wine Communicator Awards held by wine enthusiasts club 67 Pall Mall. Ryan took over Halliday’s weekly column in The Weekend Australian Magazine in April.

Finalists and guests of the awards hailed from all parts of the wine industry, including MWs, sommeliers and communicators from around the world, and were welcomed at a ceremony at Sinfonia Smith Square in Westminster in London, with a live broadcast streamed on 67pallmall.tv and satellite parties held concurrently in Melbourne, Singapore and Hong Kong.

“Our winners demonstrate the glorious diversity of wine communication, covering a wide range of topics in distinctively different styles,” said Richard Hemming MW, head of wine, Asia, for 67 Pall Mall, and founder of the awards.

“The quality of entries is testament to how communicators reach audiences worldwide, spreading the word about wine. On behalf of the judges, we congratulate not only our worthy winners but all our finalists for the excellence of their work, and we hope the 67 Awards encourages everyone that communicates about wine to continue on their mission!”

The panel of international judges made their final choices from shortlists of up to five in each category. The winners, each collecting a £2,000 (AU $3,900) prize, are as follows:
