Cool climate Adelaide Hills vineyard hits the market

A cool climate vineyard in the heart of the Adelaide Hills wine region has been listed for sale, in a move expected to generate interest from wine producers and investors.

The 119.6ha vineyard, formerly known as Birdwood Estate, is located at 1282 Torrens Valley Road on the outskirts of Birdwood, 50km from the Adelaide CBD.

The vineyard component of the site is 86.18ha, with an overhead frost mitigation system covering the entire vineyard. Grape varieties include Sauvignon Blanc (41.38ha), Chardonnay (25.47ha), Merlot (8.81ha), Pinot Gris (7.25ha), and Pinot Noir (3.27ha).

CBRE’s Agribusiness team has been appointed to manage a two-stage Expressions of Interest campaign.

“The vineyard is currently being managed by GLOG Viticulture to ensure best viticultural practices are being maintained until settlement,” said CBRE’s Angus Bills.

He added that the vineyard “presents well”, and features a 195ML storage dam, as well as benefitting from a 358.9ML water licence.

The property is also includes a three-bedroom home built in the 1930s, along with two pump sheds and a workshop, providing suitable infrastructure for vineyard management.

Stage One offers close on Thursday, 6 March 2025, at 4:00 PM (ACDT).
