Wine Australia welcomes new Board

Wine Australia chair Brian Walsh has welcomed the announcement by Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources David Littleproud MP of the new Wine Australia Board.

“I look forward to welcoming the five new directors who will be joining our ongoingdDirectors Brian Croser AO and Mary Retallack on 1 October 2018,” Walsh said.

“Our new directors bring valuable skills in governance, research, marketing and the broader grape and wine sector and I look forward to working with them to deliver value for all our stakeholders.

Walsh also thanked ongoing directors, Eliza Brown, David Dearie, Edouard Peter, Keith Todd and Kim Williams AM and praised them for the dedication and valued contribution they bring to the table.

“I know that they will remain deeply engaged with the Australian grape and wine community and I wish them well with their future endeavours,” he said.

From 1 October 2018, the Wine Australia Board will be:

  • Brian Walsh (Chair)
  • Dr Michele Allan
  • Catherine Cooper
  • Brian Croser AO
  • Professor Peter Høj
  • Cath Oates
  • Mary Retallack, and
  • Mitchell Taylor.

Minister Littleproud said the Australian wine industry has set itself an ambitious target to boost wine exports to $3.5 billion and attract 40,000 extra international tourists to our wine regions over three years.

“I’m confident this new board has what it takes to achieve the industry’s goals and will use the research funds available to do the job,” Minister Littleproud said.

“I thank the outgoing directors Ms Eliza Brown, Mr David Dearie, Mr Edouard Peter, Mr Keith Todd and Dr Kim Williams AM for their great work.

“They have set up the Australian wine community for future success including the roll-out of the export and regional wine support package and strategic plan 2015-2020.”
