This programme focuses on the technical and management skills required when growing quality grapes for wine production. Students can be located anywhere in New Zealand and Australia whilst they study.
Description: Sixteen modules make up the Diploma and some of the subjects covered include practical viticulture, sustainable winegrowing and organic production, vine physiology, soil management, weather, canopy management, pest, disease and weed management, the theory of winemaking and wine evaluation. This course is delivered by supported distance learning and block courses (1 or 2 held in Cromwell the winter months) by highly experienced lecturers and is the ideal solution for those who wish to extend their practical ability and develop management skills while in employment.
The practical components of this programme are met in the industry workplace as this programme is “earn while you learn”, meaning that students will be working in the industry and can be anywhere in NZ or Australia.
Recognition of prior Learning (RPL) may be awarded to students that have been already been working in the industry and have gained skills and experience. For more about this option, please call Raewyn Paviour on 021 735 856.
