Supplier of the Year proves customer service goes a long way

JMP Holdings was named Supplier of the Year at the second Wine Industry Suppliers Australia (WISA) Supplier of the Year awards night at the National Wine Centre in July this year. With more than 140 special guests, industry representatives and WISA members celebrating the achievements of suppliers,
WISA executive officer Sylvie Clarke said the nominations for each award had grown since the inaugural event in 2007, especially with the inclusion of the new Export Award.

With four nominees for Supplier of the Year - JMP Holdings, Freight-Biz International, Aggreko and Morton Blacketer - JMP Holdings was the standout, meeting the essential criteria for the Supplier of the Year award by demonstrating their innovative technology while maintaining a great emphasis on customer service and meeting the needs of their clients.

'They are a cohesive company with a vision,' Clarke said.

'The awards are an opportunity for the wine industry to take note of the various leading suppliers in Australia and what they have to offer. The winning suppliers have demonstrated initiative and consistency, innovative ideas, and a strong focus on customer service.'

JMP Holdings regional sales manager, Matthew Moate was very pleased with the win.

'We have been trading since 1998 and to get this recognition in such a reasonably short time frame is fantastic for us,' Moate said.

'The team is always working towards innovative products in various industries, primarily the wine industry.

'Being a small company we are able to give specialised and personalised service to our clients. Members of our team travel overseas every six to eight weeks to constantly seek out new products or ideas, as well as looking at how our products can be re-used or recycled. We are open to all ideas and believe nothing is too small to address.

'Having the support of the industry and being announced Supplier of The Year will promote to the industry that JMP Holdings is doing the right thing in regards to both the client and the environment, and are one step ahead of our competitors. '

JMP Holdings has become a leader in cargo care and industrial packaging products for the wine industry, supplying a various range of products including; container liners, flexitanks, thermal liners, stretch film, dunnage bags, desiccants, container seals, pallets and slip sheets. Their greatest success has been the Envirotuff thermal liner, and have since strengthened their environmentally friendly portfolio with their latest innovation - the enviro pallets - which are made from various recycled wood and palm fibres and are half the weight of standard wooden pallets. The enviro pallets are also lightweight and stackable and can be used with or without skid, reducing storage space and freight costs. Moate said the enviro pallets are cost-competitive while being environmentally friendly, proving that going green doesn't necessarily mean high cost.

'Wineries are certainly showing an interest in environmentally friendly products, and with the introduction of the Government's Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, we are working towards the future with the client's interest at hand.'

Other award winners from the Supplier of The Year were:

Environmental & Sustainability Award: Steamwand Pty Ltd
Innovation Award: Cellar Door Metrics by Morton Blacketer; and Chris Grow Engineering
Export Award: Aird-Innovation in Chemistry.

Clarke said the highlight of the evening was the recognition of the industry suppliers who showed they are doing the right thing by the industry.

'All the award winners have taken a proactive approach in innovation and environmentally friendly options which ultimately gives them an edge over their competitors, and opens up markets around Australia and overseas,' Clarke said.
