The Australian wine industry is being helped to improve its occupational health and safety through an intervention campaign. The nationally consistent auditing strategy for wine producers focuses on five major hazards - manual handling, body stressing, being hit or hitting objects, working at heights, and hazardous plant.
The future of Coonawarra
Coonawarra Winemakers John Innes, Paul Gordon, Emma Bowen and Australian wine commentator Nick Stock will investigate the 'Future of Coonawarra' at a Master Class being held as part of Tasting Australia on Thursday 27 October from 10am to 12 noon at Blake’s Restaurant, Hyatt Hotel Adelaide.
Brian Croser: Southern man
His name may fit like a glove with the Adelaide Hills and Coonawarra regions, but revered South Australian winemaker Brian Croser has opted for a whole new location to begin the next stage of his life. Choosing the deep south of the Fleurieu Peninsula, the 2004 Decanter Man of the Year has planted a small Pinot Noir vineyard just inland from the Southern Ocean.
Constellation pushes ahead with hostile bid for Canadian winemaker Vincor
Ben Dobbin reported on newsday.com that US-based Constellation Brands Inc., pushing ahead with an unsolicited takeover bid for Vincor International Inc., expressed bafflement that the Canadian wine producer viewed the $900 million offer as "opportunistic and inadequate."
