Langhorne Creek Winemakers’ Luncheon and Wine Showcase 2008
On the first Saturday in May each year the Langhorne Creek Winemakers’ Association holds a Wine Showcase at the Langhorne Creek Memorial Hall.
Minor variety still makes an impact
Malbec is a relatively minor variety in Australia and the area under-vine has been declining in recent years. According to the ABS 2006 Vineyard Survey, there were 425ha of Malbec undervine in 2006. This is lower than the recorded peak of 511ha in 2001, but still higher than the area in the 1980s and 1990s (200-300ha).
New drought fears as La Nina fades
The biggest La Nina system in years is weakening over the Pacific, shaking hopes that forecast weekend rains will signal the beginning of the end of the drought.
