Lallemand joins International Riesling Challenge

International giant Lallemand is the latest organisation to throw its considerable support behind the Canberra International Riesling Challenge, chairman Ken Helm has announced.

Under the new Lallemand sponsorship, the Best Current Vintage Riesling in 2007 from Australia and New Zealand will be awarded the inaugural Lallemand Trophy.

"We are extremely pleased to have Lallemand on board," Helm said.

"Since the early 1970s Lallemand has had a strong link to the Australian wine industry, answering the need of professional winemakers for well-researched, high quality yeast. Since then Lallemand's range of oenology products has grown to include bacteria, enzymes and fermentation aids."

Lallemand brands such as Lalvin, Uvaferm, Enoferm, Go-Ferm and 1-Step are available throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia, USA and Europe.

"It is a coup to have Lallemand as part of our impressive sponsorship team, headed up by the Hyatt hotel group," Helm said.

"Lallemand offers its customers an extremely broad range of high quality products and fermentation specific technical support.

"Lallemand owes its success to its continual pursuit of excellence, its flexibility and adaptability to the world market and its ongoing investment in research and development."

After a record number of entries for the 2006 Canberra International Riesling Challenge, entries for the 2007 Challenge will be called in early June with a closing date of 20 July.
