2007 Australian and New Zealand Olive Industry Directory out now

A total of 756 olivegrowers and oliveprocessors are listed in the new edition of The Australian and New Zealand Olive Industry Directory, published today by Ryan Publications.

The number of groves and processors listed has increased substantially from the inaugural issue in 2006 when a total of 517 enterprises submitted information, 422 from Australia and 95 from New Zealand.

Victoria (178), closely followed by New South Wales (167) has the largest number of growers and processors, according to the Directory.

Ryan Publications’ managing editor Anita Donaldson said the team behind the Olive Industry Directory, led this year by Listings Manager Carolyn Hames and consultant, Raquel Williams, were thrilled with the new edition which was bigger and better than the inaugural 2006 Australian & New Zealand Olive Industry Directory.

““We wanted to publish the Olive Industry Directory to really put a name to the olive industry in Australia and New Zealand. We feel the inaugural Directory achieved our goal of packaging the many growers, processors, suppliers, consultants and organisations who make up the olive industry in two countries.

“We received excellent feedback about the publication after its release in January 2006, and this continued throughout last year.

“Ryan Publications took the Directory to many field days in South Australia where we are based, and to the recent Australian Olive Expo in Canberra, and at all times the Directory was received with enthusiasm and also a sense of pride by the industry. We sold out all copies of the inaugural Directory so we have achieved excellent value for the suppliers who chose to support the new Directory with advertising. We hope they have been rewarded with business and promotion during 2006,” she said.

The release of the new Directory follows the announcement late in 2006 that the inaugural 2006 Australian & New Zealand Olive Industry Directory had won the prestigious Bell Award for The Best Directory – Electronic or Print at the 11th Australian Business and Specialist Publishers’ (ABSP) Bell Awards.

More than 230 entries were entered into the Bell Awards for excellence in publishing with 34 trophies going to the top publishers of business-to-business, specialist and niche consumer magazines.

Australian Business and Specialist Publishers’ vine-chairman, Adrian Farrow, said the ABSP Bell Awards have become “a benchmark for publishing standards and an excellent barometer of the industry’s commercial and technical progress as well as the talents of individuals.”
