Provisor is the successful applicant of round two of the Tarac Environment Future Fund (TEFF) — an initiative introduced in 2005 by Barossa Valley based Tarac Technologies. TEFF, established to help develop more sustainable ways of managing winery waste, allocates up to $20,000 a year to encourage innovative solutions for dealing with winemaking residuals. The project proposed by Provisor’, will attempt to understand the flow properties and opportunity for improvement in relation to fermentation lees. It is being conducted in partnership with the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of Adelaide and Orlando Wines. When successfully completed, the project is expected to deliver commercial advantages and waste reduction for wineries resulting in a positive impact on the environment. The outcomes will be shared with the wine industry though media reports, industry journals, newsletters and websites of industry bodies/associations, etc. Tarac Technologies, along with the Winemakers’ Federation of Australia and the Grape and Wine Research Development Corporation congratulate the team at Provisor and thank all applicants. Tarac Technologies is committed to the environmental sustainability of the wine industry and the TEFF reflects Tarac’s ongoing commitment to minimising the impact of winery waste on the environment. Round 3 of the fund will be advertised during Winetech 2007 at the end of July 2007. For further information please contact Dr Ira Pant on +61 8 8562 1522 or email .
