Sydney Wine Show Luncheon

Never let it be said that your committee ignores your feedback. We have made some major changes for this year’s Wine Press Club Macquarie Bank Sydney Royal Wine Show Trophy Winners Lunch to be held on February 16, 2007.

NEW VENUE – STAR CITY, PYRMONT – in response to your requests we’re trialing a city venue, so it’s up to you to show your support. Book a table for yourself, your colleagues, customers, winemakers and friends. Better still, send this notice on to anyone you think might like to attend – but to book they must either be a member, or do so through you.

NEW FORMAT – we’re offering a bus service from the Showground to the city so you can attend the morning tasting at Homebush, starting the lunch a little later, with canapés on arrival, including the Saltram Australian Wine Communicator Award Trophy Presentation and have booked the terrific rooftop, outdoor Astral Bar for the always social after-lunch drinks.

NEW SPEAKERS – well, sort of new. Our President will be announcing the finalists and winner of the Saltram Australian Wine Communicator Award, our new Patron James Halliday will speak in his role as Chairman of Judges and we will hear from the guest International Judge David Furer, the UK-based American Certified Wine Educator, Master Sommelier, widely published author, photo journalist and public speaker.

NEW WINES – one thing’s for sure, the wines will be outstanding. We will enjoy more than a dozen trophy winning wines from this year’s Show, including the winning sparkling red, plus a beer or two.

YOU NEED TO BE A FINANCIAL MEMBER – to book places at this Lunch. Membership Renewal and Application forms are available on our website www.winepressclub.com.au Members save $30 at this event, highlighting the value in our minimal $55 annual fee.

BOOKINGS – will only be accepted with payment and tables will be allocated on a first in first served basis. Confirmation of your booking will be sent to you by our Administrator. If you do not receive a confirmation within 48 hours, please follow up. Bookings must be received by Friday 9 February. Refunds cannot be made for cancellations received after COB Monday 12 February.

PARKING – given the amount of wine we will be enjoying, we do not recommend you drive. Should you wish to, undercover parking is available at Star City Car Park (enter via Pirrama Road or Edward Street) at $17 for 6 hours.

BIG RAFFLE – This Lunch is our largest fund raising gig for the year and this year’s theme is Big and Rare, so if you’ve got a suitable prize to donate, such as a large format bottle, a rare old vintage or an unusual highly desirable trinket, then please contact Trish Pearson on 02 9217 1292 / 0411 440 168 or Let’s make this one our biggest yet.
