An Irrigation Scheduling Workshop, presented by Mark Skewes from Rural Solutions SA is to be held on 25 November at the McLaren Vale visitor centre.
All vineyard owners, managers and viticulturists would benefit from this workshop this growing season. The workshop will present an informative session covering
• The principles of evapotranspiration (crop water use) and its calculation using crop coefficients. • Determining irrigation shifts based on crop and soil groupings, and matching shifts to pump capacity. • Salinity as an issue in irrigation, and leaching as a means of controlling salinity. • Soil water monitoring tools — advantages and disadvantages of some common groups of products and a review of the types of outputs generated by these. • Interpretation of soil water monitoring data and how to use this information to assist in practical irrigation scheduling. • The place of plant based monitoring in irrigation scheduling. • Selecting an appropriate monitoring system for your property.
Places are limited. Please RSVP by Tuesday 21 November to Shonel — fax (08) 8323 9332 or email
