New grower association to be formed

An exclusive report from Today's Key Report (TKR) announced at a meeting of South Australian grape growers representatives last week, discussion focused on grower representation at the State level in industry, government and other forums.

Currently the South Australian Wine Industry Association represents SA grapegrowers. It was determined at the meeting that this is now inappropriate and a new body be established — the South Australian Winegrape Growers Council (SAWGC). It's understood Paul Clancy has agreed to be Chairman.

A source told TKR "This is a long overdue development for growers in SA. The grower leaders who attended Tuesday's meeting all agreed that it was past time that growers in this State shook off their apathy and united to speak and act as one in what will be a very tough few years ahead."
