Fresh from the Press – Olive Oil tasting season in Mudgee

Foodie fans can sample some of the Australia’s finest olives, olive oil and other olive products in Mudgee on the June long weekend when di Lusso’s Olive Grove hosts 'Fresh from the Press' in the Heart of Country NSW.
On 11 June, cooking enthusiasts and produce buffs alike can enjoy the range of activities at di Lusso’s Olive Grove and taste the variety on offer of the top class oils from the region.
Olives used for oil are picked in April and early May and after pressing they are left to rest for six weeks, making the June long weekend the perfect time to sample the freshest extra virgin olive oils.
“The olive oil produced in this region is of superior quality. Fresh from the Press is an event aimed to educate Australians of the benefits of using local olive oil, rather than just automatically using imported products,” said Ray Whitfield, organiser of the event.
Olive producers from the Mudgee region will have a wide range of olive products on display for tasting and purchase.
Other activities include a talk about the history of the olive in world culture for thousands of years and information sessions on tastings and what to look for in an oil.
