Celebrate Dan Murphy’s 50th store with its top 50 selection

Dan Murphy’s, Australia’s most successful liquor retailer, achieved a significant milestone this week throwing open the doors to its 50th store in Woolloongabba, Queensland.

To mark the occasion Dan Murphy’s is running its biggest promotion ever with the release of its Top 50 selection — the best wines, as voted for by Fine Wine Managers from every store across the country.

Each store was asked to select their favourite wines in each of the following price points: under $10, $10–15, $15–20, $20–30 and $30–50, with some 200 wines nominated. This shortlist was then tasted masked by a panel including wine journalists Tim White (Australian Financial Review) and Sally Gudgeon (The Age), leading winemakers and show judges Hugh Cuthbertson (Cheviot Bridge) and Sue Hodder (Wynns Coonawarra), and Dan Murphy’s senior wine buyers Campbell Stott and Steve Creber to reach the Top 50.

The final selection process was not an easy one, with exceptional quality and stylistic diversity evident at every price point. The final winners’ list presents outstanding value for money across all price categories.

This top 50 selection includes such highlights as Clos Pierre 2005 Yarra Valley Chardonnay, Pewsey Vale 2005 Eden Valley Riesling and Majella 2003 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon.
