Oeneo Closures, producers of DIAM, have launched the new website www.oeneo.co.uk.
This gives wine producers their first online closure ordering system, offering a global pricing network (established primarily for UK retailers/agents) to New Zealand producers selling in the UK.
Andy Gale, technical manager at Tesco UK comments, "This is the first user-friendly system that allows us to pass on our volume benefits to the smaller producer. It gives us more flexibility to bring new and interesting wines to our shelves, forming an integral part of our plan for 2006."
The website also offers a one-stop shop, allowing suppliers to choose their preferred closure from a variety of cork and screwcap solutions.
It is expected that additional UK supermarkets will announce their involvement within days.
This is another coup for Oeneo, which in 2006 has seen Diam experience a 50% increase in customers and a 70% increase in sales volume throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Oeneo Closures national sales manager, Dean Banister, states that more than 450 Australian and New Zealand wineries are now using Diam to bottle their wines.
