The Rural Industries R&D Corporation (RIRDC) has joined with the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) and 11 other R&D corporations (RDCs) to enable rural women to apply for scholarships to attend a corporate governance training course run by the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
The scholarships, which are worth over $10,000, will enable the applicants to complete the course and improve their governance, leadership and networking skills, and make a lasting contribution to their industries and communities.
The RDCs also provide an associated 12-month, mentoring and support programme.
The intensive, five-day AICD courses help the participants better understand their legal responsibilities as members of boards or as company directors, and helps enhance their skills in important areas such as risk management, board management, decision-making and report writing.
The scholarships are open to women aged 36 and over who work in the industries associated with each RDC.
