You have probably heard about the notion of loaves and fishes – but do you know about Western Australia's leading summer wine and seafood event – the popular Amberley Semillon & Seafood feast – when the focus is on sipping and fish? This two-day fixture features an all-day grazing menu showcasing a range of Australia's top Semillons and some of Western Australia's most superior seafood dishes.
Amberley is the proud host of this relaxed weekend that highlights the best examples of the variety described by UK-based wine writer Jancis Robinson MW as a 'raving beauty.'
Margaret River's winemakers, led by Amberley's Paul Dunnewyk, obviously think of their wines in these terms, and ten of Australia's best, selected by an independent panel, will be on taste. Participant Semillon producers include Arlewood and Juniper Estate (Margaret River), Coriole (McLaren Vale), Merum (Pemberton) and Tyrrell's (Hunter Valley), and of course the host, Amberley. Sweet-tooths will be attracted by another delish dame – De Bortoli's Noble One Botrytis Semillon.
Celebrate Semillon in all its expressions along with an innovative selection of wild-catch seafood – blue swimmer crab, dhufish, prawns, sardines and squid, accompanied by the toe-tapping tunes of the Greg Schultz Big Band.
Semillon and seafood lovers can book their tickets now. The one-day entry is $130 per person inc GST which secures coupons for four seafood dishes and five delectable wines (or redeem all five wine coupons for a bottle of your choice.) Gold Leaf tickets are $150 inc GST and guarantee verandah seating, a special commemorative glass and unrestricted views of the picturesque vineyards.
Special offer early bird 10% saving rates apply for all tickets booked and paid for before 31 December, 2005. And if you wish to come along with a group of friends there is an additional saving of 5% on the Sunday only. Only persons over 18 years may attend.
