A new Hunter Valley vineyard has launched into the Australian wine market this year with an award-winning 2005 Verdelho. Vercoe’s Vineyard is located in the Sweetwater Ridge Estate of Belford, Hunter Valley NSW. Spanning 40 hectares, of which around four hectares is under vine, this boutique vineyard has produced an award-winning Verdelho, a Merlot (currently in barrel) and a Semillon and Chardonnay are on their way. Launching this year, the 2005 Verdelho picked up a Bronze medal at the Hunter Valley Wine Show and The Hunter Valley Boutique Winemakers Show. Vibrant green in colour, the bouquet is full of fresh tropical fruit flavour complimented with a hint of musk and spice, followed by a palate of soft fruit that is packed with luscious fruit essence. The perfect accompaniment to most foods, especially seafood or something with a little spice, this wine has a dry, crisp finish with smooth longevity.
