ARA builds sales force in NSW

Marlborough producer ARA has this week announced the appointment of a new business development executive to lead its market growth in the New South Wales off-premise channel. Sophie Warner joins Ara after working in sales and account management for Moet Hennessy Australia, managing key on-premise accounts in the Sydney CBD including independent and national retailers. “It’s very exciting to be on board with a family-owned company who is seeking to develop the next generation of Marlborough wines,” she said. “The opportunity to deliver a fresh new brand to the market, especially within the current climate, will be a very challenging but hopefully a rewarding experience.” Commercial director Sue Henderson says the appointment will provide ARA customers with a higher level of service and industry understanding. “Sophie brings a wealth of knowledge to the role with diverse experience in the Australian and international wine market,” Sue said. “We required a person who would assist our distributors in the market as a brand ambassador for on-premise and business development within the independent retail channel, and Sophie fitted the bill perfectly.” Ara is a 1600-hectare single terrace sub-region, nine kilometres long and two wide, bounded either side by fresh water or the hills of Waihopai Valley. Vineyards in Ara predominantly grow Sauvignon Banc and Pinot Noir. Visit for more information.
