The Winery Engineering Association’s annual Conference and Exhibition that was to take place in the Barossa during May has been cancelled. A spokesperson for the WEA committee says the decision was made as a result of wine industry’s economic conditions. “The committee believes that the current economic conditions of the industry are such that the most responsible action in the best interest of all members, suppliers and presenters is not to run the planned conference in the Barossa in May this year,” the spokesperson said. “The WEA is grateful for the continued support of sponsors, exhibitors and presenters and we continue our commitment to our members by currently considering a range of future events to meet the changing needs of the industry in Australia.” The Conference and Exhibition has taken place annually for more than 20 years. The WEA New Zealand Conference and Exhibition, which takes place from September 16 to 17 this year in Marlborough, will still take place.
