The 17th international competition of the world’s best Chardonnay wines, Chardonnay du Monde has just come to an end.
There were 296 medals awarded from 887 wine samples from 37 countries.
Seven countries appeared in the 2010 top 10 list.
France obtained four gold medals including two for Champagne, and Austria, Greece and Germany appeared in the top 10 for the first time.
Spain, South Africa and Canada also made the top 10.
300 international expert judges awarded 65 gold, 174 silver and 57 bronze medals.
Victoria's Red Hill Estate was one of six Australian wineries that were awarded silver medals.
No Australian winery received gold.
