Wine Communicator of the year announced

Wine Australia’s Paul Henry has been announced 2010 Wine Communicator of the Year.

Wine Australia is a brand of the Australian Wine and Brand Corporation, and Henry, the brand's market development general manager, was awarded the honour in joint recognition with wine educator and writer Peter Bourne.

He says he was thrilled to receive the Wine Communicators Award.

“But not only in recognition of what Wine Australia has achieved to date, but also in acknowledgement that there is much more yet to prove,” he said.

“Thank you to everyone who has ever got on a plane and engaged a market on behalf of their country, their region and their winery.”

Henry has been working for the AWBC since 2003.

Initially a regional manager in the UK and Ireland, Henry moved to Adelaide in 2006 where he took up his current role for Wine Australia.

Some notable contributions include improving perceptions of the Wine Australia brand, launching the inaugural Landmark Australia Tutorial and his active involvement in presenting masterclasses, and writing a monthly e-newsletter read by audiences in more than 80 countries.

Wine Communicators of Australia is an independent communications forum.

Judges for the award included Jancis Robinson OBE MW, James Halliday and WCA President Rob Hirst.
